Yamapair Fic
Title: As Far As You’ll Take Me
Rating: PG-13 - R
Pairing: Yamapair
Summary: After missing his flight home for the holidays, Sho tries to make it via a road trip and meets a certain drifter along the way.
Disclaimer: None of this is true, just a work of fiction. Do not know any of the mentioned characters.
A/N: Didn't win in the arashicrackaday contest, but thanks to those who read, voted, and commented.

It was pretty normal for him to be running through the airport, bags flying in hand, as he desperately tries to catch his plane. Much like what happens every year, he works nearly to the last minute before breaking every traffic law, well more like getting the taxi driver to break the laws, just to get home on time. However this time is not like the rest, this time he doesn’t make it onto the plane.

As he dashed down the long hall, he saw his plane back out of the runway causing his heart to slowly sink in his chest. “Fuck,” he whispered softly, dropping the gift bags in his hand. He stood there for 10 minutes to catch his breath and to think of his new plan. ‘Road trip it is,’ Sho thought before calmly walking out the airport and catching a taxi back home.

Sho dropped his stuff on his couch and walked to the kitchen to grab a few food items he’ll be needing for his trip. After collecting the food, which consisted of the many snack foods he’s barely even gotten the chance to eat, he grabbed his car keys.

When he got in the car, he pulled his cell phone out and called his parents. The line rang a few times before his younger brother answered. “Sho-chan?”

“Hey, is mom and dad home?”

“Yeah…you didn’t catch the plane did you?” Shu sighed.

“It’s okay, I’m going to drive there. It should be about three days, four at most,” Sho reassured. His brother sighed and mumbled what sounded like an ‘okay.’ “Well tell them I called, cause I’ll be driving soon. See you in a few days, okay?”

“Mm, bye bye.”

Sho exhaled and started up the car and took his first lonely road trip.

Three hours had passed and the man was already bored and tired. He kept fiddling with the radio changing it from station to station, singing his heart out to the songs he recognized. Sho was driving along before he noticed a man walking on the highway. The man was walking normally, as if he was simply going to the store, despite the cold weather. He had a huge backpack and immediately Sho knew he was a hitchhiker.

Okay so he’s heard the horror stories of picking up a hitchhiker, but he felt bad. He’s never encountered one and to know they might never get a ride until miles and miles later just made his lips downturn. He drove over and rolled the window down.

“Do you need a ride?” The man stopped and looked over at him with wide eyes. He pointed at himself and Sho nodded with a small chuckle.

“I don’t mind walking, so you don’t have to.”

“I don’t want you walking for too long. It’ll fuck with my conscience,” Sho smiled. The hitchhiker smiled back and nodded. He walked around to the passenger side and got in. “Sakurai,” Sho said holding his hand out. He might be nice enough to pick a hitchhiker up, but he’s not dumb enough to give him his full name.

“Ohno,” the man mumbled, taking the outstretched hand. Sho smiled and started driving again.

Neither were talking for a while seeming how they don’t really know each other. Sho took a quick glance at the man, who was looking in his bag for something. “Um, so…where are you headed?”

“Nowhere. I just wanted to take a trip,” Ohno said before pulling out a notebook. “Found it!” he exclaimed to himself.

“So you just up and left your house and decided to go somewhere?”

“Not just somewhere, but somewhere I haven’t been before.”

“Well, then why not take a car or something? I’m sure it’d been faster and warmer.”

“It would, but I don’t have my license,” Ohno smiled at Sho.

“Wait how old are you?”

Sho laughed and scratched the bridge of his nose. “29 and you don’t drive. Do you know how to?”

“Nope, but I have a bike. Well I had a bike, but my friend totaled it…with his car.”

“Ah, I guess your feet are all you have in this situation,” Sho nodded. Ohno made a small noise in agreement, focusing his attention to his notebook.

“So where are you heading?”

“Parents’ home. Gonna see the family for the holidays,” Sho smiled brightly. “Speaking of which, shouldn’t you be with yours or something?”

“We don’t do that much. Also, I still live with them so it’d be like every other day. But I left them their gifts so I’m not a total douche.”

“29, doesn’t drive, has no bike, and lives with parents…okay,” Sho said with laughter gracing his voice.

Ohno looked over at him with a smirk before continuing with his writing. Their small series of questions continued like that for a while before Sho noticed it was now 1 A.M. and as much as he wanted to keep on driving, his eyes were failing him. Also, Ohno looked just as sleepy as he did. He noticed a sign stating the nearest motel and drove along that route.

Sho parked in the lot and opened the trunk to get his clothes. Ohno stood by the door and waited patiently before they went in. “One room or two?” the woman at the front desk asked the minute they entered.

“Um, one…but are there any with two beds?” Sho asked and to his luck they did. He checked them in and took the room key before sleepily going to their room. “Ugh I’m so tired,” Sho whined when they stepped in and collapsed on the bed. When he didn’t get a response from the other man, he looked up and noticed he was already knocked out. “Wow,” Sho chuckled before falling asleep as well.

It was 9 A.M. when Sho was rudely awakened by an earthquake. Or so he thought it was, but in reality it was Ohno jumping on his bed. He reached out and punched the man on his leg causing him to yelp in pain and stop.

“A simple ‘get up’ would suffice,” Sho groaned, rolling onto his back.

“But that was uncalled for,” Ohno pouted and sat on his bed. Sho noticed the man was completely dressed and ready.

“What time did you get up?”

“7:30.” Sho groaned and rolled over again so his back was facing the older man. “Come on, get up, or you’ll never see your family again.”

“What?” Sho got out of bed and looked at the other man. Ohno only gave him an innocent smile in return, as if he didn’t just slightly threaten him. Sighing, he took his change of clothes and went to the bathroom.

Minutes later they were on the road again, but made a pit stop to a small diner. Ohno ordered a simple stack of pancakes and some coffee, while Sho asked for waffles, pancakes, sausage and eggs; not to forget the side of toast and coffee.

“Man you make my throat close up when I look at you eat,” Ohno laughed as Sho heartily ate his breakfast.

“We need to make up for the lost hours yesterday,” Sho said through a mouthful, while looking at the map he purchased at the gas station earlier. The other man nodded and took a sip of his coffee. “Um, speaking of which, how far are you planning on going?”

Ohno looked deep in thought before looking down at the map on the table. “Here,” he smiled and pointed at a random location, which so happened to be a few miles away from Sho’s destination. “Or at least as far as you can take me.”

Sho looked up at him and nodded. “Okay.” He felt very uncomfortable dropping someone off in an area they weren’t used to. After 20 more minutes they finished their food and were back on the road. During that time, Sho found out the man was an excellent drawer and singer apparently. Ohno was fiddling around with radio, before he heard a song he recognized and sang softly with it. Sho felt at ease listening to his voice and smiled to himself.

“Am I bothering you?”

“Well, I’m not much help right now. I’m kind of dead weight here,” the man laughed. “I can’t take over the driving and you’ve been paying for most of our expenses. To top things off I think I’m getting a little too comfortable,” Ohno said, referring to the radio.

“I don’t mind. Well actually, it would’ve been nice if you could either pay for your own or if you knew how to drive, but it’s okay. I kinda signed up for this when I picked you up.”

“You can always kick me out,” Ohno said seriously. Sho looked over at him briefly before keeping his eyes on the road.

“I won’t.” Those words caused a bright smile to come across Ohno’s face. For the next two hours they sat in a comfortable silence as the radio played softly.

Sho made another pit stop--Ohno needed to pee and refused to go in the empty water bottle like he had suggested--and chose this time to call home. He was currently leaning against the car, arguing with his mother. “Mom, I know I should’ve tried to catch an earlier flight, but I really couldn’t,” he sighed exasperatedly. “No, you don’t need to worry about me,” he mumbled.

“Are you by yourself?”

“Uh…not…really,” he said looking at Ohno coming out the bathroom while wiping his hands with his handkerchief.

“Is it a girl?” his mother asked happily. Sho sighed and rubbed his eyes and turned around so he was resting his forehead on the hood of the car.

“Mom, I told you that me being gay isn’t just a phase.”

“But you never brought home a boyfriend so for the time being it’s just a phase,” she said in defiance or was it in denial. When Sho turned back around Ohno was staring at him. ‘Shit, how much did he hear?’ he thought.

“Mom, I gotta go. I have only 2000 miles left; I’ll make it okay,” Sho said quickly before hanging up and smiling. “Ready?”

“So why did you pick yesterday to start this random trip?” Sho asked as he drove, slightly tapping his fingers on the wheel.

“I’ve been reading a lot of adventure books and it made me want to go on one.”

“What are you four?” Sho joked causing the older man to glare at him. “But I guess that’s good, to venture out, expand your horizons so to speak.”

“Mm, blah blah. So what did you do with your plane ticket?” Ohno asked, changing the subject.

“Um, I gave it to the airline people and they said they’d reimburse me 25%, which was the best they could do.”

“Yeah, but that’s life.”

“Mm,” Ohno hummed softly. “Why did you hang up so fast on your mom?”

“Why are you asking?”

“I don’t care if you’re…you know. Lots of people are.”

“Well not many people are comfortable with it. Not even my own mom,” Sho sighed.

“I am,” the man smiled. Sho nodded with a sigh and an eye roll. This was not the conversation he wanted to be having with a total stranger. He could feel Ohno’s eyes on him causing a slight tingling sensation to run through him. He stole a quick glance and the older man smiled at him. ‘Such a cute smile,’ he thought before looking straight ahead.

Much like what happened yesterday they--he--drove for hours, with a few breaks and conversations in between, until it was approaching 1 A.M. Again they stopped at a nearby motel and checked in, but this time there was only one room with one bed available. Sho gave Ohno an apologetic look, but the man simply shrugged and went over to their room. When they opened the door and turned on the lights, Sho covered his face in horror.

“The honeymoon suite,” Ohno said with wide and curious eyes as opposed to the sleepy ones he had just moments before. He laughed at Sho who was repeatedly apologizing to him. “It’s okay. A bed is a bed,” he chuckled patting his shoulder.

Granted Ohno was being aloof about the whole situation, both men were quite nervous once they approached the red silk sheet covered bed. The heart pillows were quickly tossed off by Sho before he sat down and removed his button down shirt, revealing the white T-shirt he had underneath it. Ohno followed suit and removed his jeans so he was left in his boxer briefs and shirt before getting under the sheets. When Sho was dressed the same, he laid on top of the covers and turned off the lights.

“Get under, it’s too cold,” Ohno pouted.

“It’s okay, I don’t mind.” Sho was laying stiffly on his back as he tried not to tremble from the cold wind he felt ghosting over him. Ohno got out from underneath the sheets and laid above them like him. “What are you doing?”

“It’s not fair if I’m comfortable and you’re not. You’ve been doing most of the work you know.” Sho looked over at the man and despite the small sliver of moonlight coming through the curtains, he was able to make out the round eyes and cheeks.

“If you’re going to go to this extent, we might as well get underneath the sheets,” Sho said softly, still roaming his eyes on the shorter man’s features. He caught the glint of teeth as the man smiled and quickly both huddled up under the warm sheets. They were facing each other, but neither chose to turn away. Ohno shuffled closer so his head was practically sharing the same pillow.

“Thank you for all this, you know. I probably wouldn’t have made it far on my own really,” Ohno said softly. “I probably would’ve turned around and gone back home had you not picked me up,” he said with a small laugh. Sho simply nodded, unable to speak with the man’s closeness.

“Well I should thank you for not making my road trip suck,” Sho managed to say. Ohno smiled and moved closer, his knees bumping into Sho’s. “Oh-Ohno…I’m gay,” he said as if that would make the man run away like he was the plague.

“Mm, and I said earlier that I didn’t care. I don’t bother with labels, it prevents you from feeling.”

Sho’s breath hitched when he felt Ohno’s hand touch his hip, his fingertips rubbing the exposed skin. He started to remember his mother’s words about how he never brought home a boyfriend. It was because he knew they still didn’t accept him for who he was; but the man before him, a man he met two days ago, already accepts him with open arms. Sho raised a hand and placed it on Ohno’s cheek stroking it softly.

Slowly they leaned in and kissed. Their tongues meeting almost immediately. Ohno’s hand moved up from the thin hip to behind Sho’s neck, pushing them closer together. The taller man let out a small whine when teeth tugged on his lower lip. They pulled away and stared into each other’s eyes, sharing the same air.

“What’s your first name?” Sho asked.

“I want to call it out when I come.” Luckily it was dark in the room or else the blush on Ohno’s cheeks would’ve been apparent.

Sho leaned in for another kiss and got on top of him. They kept at it, until they were a tangled mess of flesh and limbs. Because neither had anything on them, they both settled on heavy petting and kisses. Ohno moaned into Sho’s neck as his orgasm washed over him, his seed releasing on Sho’s hand and thigh. He paid the man back by stroking him while sucking on one of his hard nipples.

The taller man groaned, his back arching as those skillful hands knew exactly how to touch him. “Ngh,” Sho grunted, thrusting his hips up and moaning softly. “Satoshi,” he whimpered as his cum squirted on the other man’s stomach. They shared a sloppy and sluggish kiss before falling asleep.

When the two had woken up that morning, they were in regret…that they didn’t clean themselves up after last night’s activity. It was Christmas Eve and Sho only had 1000 miles left to his destination and technically 900 for Ohno’s. He was dreading this day. They got some breakfast again, but Sho’s ravenous appetite was decreased to a simple cup of coffee and a plate waffles.

Sho called his parents and told them he’d be home on time for Christmas, while Ohno simply sat in his chair with his knees drawn up to his chest. He looked like he was in deep thought, before he glanced over at the taller man. Their eyes met and shy smiles spread across their faces. They were back on the road thirty minutes later, both counting down the hours.

“So what exactly are you going to do when I drop you off?” Sho asked, avoiding the real thing he wanted to talk about.

“Venture around town. I’ve never been there,” Ohno shrugged with a smile. The younger man wondered how he was always smiling even when things don’t always go his way.

“How long will you be there?”

“Until I get bored of it?” Ohno chuckled. He really didn’t have a set plan. He actually wanted to go with Sho, but the man seemed fixed on dropping him off. “Sakurai?”

“You don’t regret last night do you?”

“No…you?” Sho asked, catching in the corner of his eye, Ohno shaking his head ‘no’. A smile graced his lips and drove a bit faster.

By 10 P.M. Sho had arrived to their first destination. Ohno had his bag in his lap, clutching it to his chest. “I guess this is me,” he said softly. Sho nodded and drove into the town, looking for a motel.

“I’ll check you in.”

“No, I can do it,” Ohno said quickly, he couldn’t have the man pay for his room anymore. “Thank you, for everything.”

“You’re welcome,” Sho said softly. Ohno gave him a small farewell kiss, before getting out the car and going inside the motel.

The rest of his trip was lonely, long, and depressing. He only had three hours until he was home, but within those hours he was thinking about the older man. He missed the soft humming he’d absentmindedly do, the small pictures he’d draw--and litter his car with--but more importantly, he missed that smile that never seemed to leave his face. Before Sho knew it, he was home and no longer excited to be there like he had been when he first started his trip.

“Sho!” his sister called out and hugged him. He wrapped an arm around her while he removed his shoes. “Mom! Dad!” she yelled walking away. Sho greeted his parents and younger brother, not missing the wandering eyes of his mother.

“So where is this person you were with?” she asked. Everyone turned to him and he groaned.

“I wasn’t really with him, I just gave him a ride.”

“A hitchhiker?!” his father exclaimed. Sho nodded and received and slap to the back of the head. “What did we say about that?!”

“But I’m fine. So no need to yell.”

“He’s right. It’s Christmas now,” his mother said shooing her husband away. Sho rubbed his head and went to his old room where he collapsed on the bed. ‘I wonder what he’s up to,’ he thought. He fell asleep a few minutes later before getting forcefully woken up by his sister at 10 A.M.

They were cleaning the house and preparing the family dinner since a few other relatives were going to be joining as well. Sho’s mind was on Ohno the whole time as he cleaned, causing him to get scolded by everyone when he was standing in front of the sink rubbing the towel over one bowl repeatedly. The doorbell rang and Sho promptly answered it, only to be greeted by his aunt, uncle, and cousins. They took turns hugging him or shaking his hand. He wasn’t going to lie, he half expected to see Ohno standing on the other side of the door, but of course that wasn’t going to happen any time soon.

Throughout the course of the day, Sho wasn’t giving it his all in anything that he did. He was losing at the family games--not that he was ever good anyways, he was slightly photo bombing pictures, and he gave a semi enthused speech before dinner. He looked down at his food, but he didn’t feel like eating. Instead he got up and rushed out the house and into his car. He didn’t care if it’d take three hours, it would be worth it in his mind.

Sho drove as fast as he legally could to the motel he remembered dropping Ohno off at. When he finally made it into town, his heart was beating faster and it only got worse the closer he got to the motel. He parked the car and got out before rushing to the man at the front desk.

“Merr-” the man got ready to say, but Sho cut him off.

“Did someone by the name of Ohno Satoshi check out yet?”

“I need to see him. Please,” Sho said desperately. The attendant, still slightly bothered that he was cut off, checked the guest book.

“No, he’s still here,” he said looking up at Sho. “I suppose you want to know the room number right?”

“Thank you. Thank you so much,” Sho said before rushing off to the room. He ran up to the door and knocked on it. He heard the latch unhooking and the locked unlocking before the door opened. Ohno stood there, wide eyed in just his shirt and boxers.

“What are you-” His words were cut off, by the passionate kiss Sho gave him. Ohno slowly wrapped his arms around Sho’s neck, deepening their kiss.

“Merry Christmas,” the taller man said against the pouting lips. Ohno laughed and pulled him into the room.

After they repeated--twice--what they had done two nights ago, Sho called home.

“Where did you go? You just ran out the house like that, and you never touched your food,” his mom questioned.

“I forgot something important,” Sho said looking at Ohno, who was laying on his side facing him.

“What was it? A better gift than what you left me?”

“You’ll see when I get back,” he laughed. The older man kissed his neck softly before snuggling into him.

“Okay, just hurry up. I don’t like you being on the road any longer than you’ve already been,” she complained.

“Mm, I gotta go now. I’ll see you later.” Sho hung up and turned to Ohno properly. “How would you like to spend the rest of the holiday with me?”

“But Christmas is almost over,” Ohno pouted. Sho laughed and kissed the man’s forehead.

“Then spend the rest of my vacation with me until I have to get back.”

“As far as you’ll take me?”

“Mm,” Sho hummed and kissed him tenderly. He didn’t want anything else except to stay in this moment.
