For my Bee-bear <3
Title: Fields of Gold
Pairing: Sakumoto
Rating: PG-13 – NC-17
Summary: It takes an accident on the job for Sho to confess his love for Matsumoto.
Disclaimer: I do not know nor am I any of the mentioned characters. None of this happened; this is only a work of fiction.
A/N: Wrote this for percybum who wasn’t feeling so well. Hope this makes you happy hun!

Whenever people ask what it is that he does, he loves answering ‘sliding down poles.’ It cracked him up how they were probably imagining him in scantily clad clothing and seductively sliding down a pole, receiving a few bills in his G-string.

But the truth is that, he’s a firefighter. For about seven years he’s been risking his life to calm down angry flames that engulf people’s homes, workspaces, and on random occasions garbage and cars. Though as crazy as it might seem, he enjoyed doing this job. He loved seeing the children’s faces light up when he and his friends come to the rescue. He loved getting the welcome hugs and tears from scared parents and neighbors. No not because he is some sort of sadist, but because he can actually say he has an important role in this life.

Even when he gets called to do the mundane tasks of ending a dispute or even funnier getting a cat out of a tree, yes, this is an actual situation; Sho wouldn’t trade this job for anything in the world. He also wouldn’t trade it because he gets to work with the man he’s been pining over for about six years of his life.

His name is Matsumoto Jun; he came in about a year after Sho joined the force. He was the one he had to show the ropes to, getting him comfortable with the area and letting him know when and where to joke around. From then on, Sho was seen to him as the sempai to go to if he had any trouble. Though, those days ended around Jun’s second year.

He no longer came to him for every small matter and only acknowledges him when they were around each other, which sadly it wasn’t that much. When they waited around the station until they got a call, Sho liked to spend his time reading up on the news or anything the younger one’s would call serious work. However Jun loved the comradery.

Sho was in a room, reading a book to himself when Jun came in with a big smile on his face.
“Hey Sakurai, want to come down with us to court? We were going to try and play some soccer,” he said leaning against the door. He knew that soccer was the only sport Sho seemed to have a high interest in and figured that this would be a great chance to get the man to ‘join the crowd.’

“Mm,” he hummed, his eyes glued on the book that was held close to his chest. Jun stood there for a while before entering the room completely.

“You always keep yourself in here,” he sat on the desk Sho was sitting behind, noticing the eyes briefly looking up at him. “You know some of them think this is your office and are a bit afraid to come in here,” Jun continued.

“Mm,” the older man hummed again. A few seconds later he closed the book and placed it next to Jun’s body. “Tell them it’s not my office and they are free to come in anytime.” He got ready to leave before turning around to the younger man. “And it’s Sakurai-san.” The door closed behind him and Jun sucked his teeth in annoyance.

That’s what became of his relationship with Jun. After he technically learned to fend for himself, they grew a bit estranged, but Sho felt that it was only right this way. It would prevent him from slipping up and telling him that he likes him. Or maybe he can call it love, he has been thinking about him since he first came in; it is only natural for those feelings to evolve into something more, even if it is one-sided.

It was an ordinary Thursday evening where Sho stayed in ‘his office’ while the rest enjoyed themselves the best they could. As he got ready to turn the most exciting part of his book, the alarm rang. Quickly he put the book down and ran out the room. It was like a movie, where you saw all of them rush towards the pole, and slide down gracefully one by one. They managed to quickly dress themselves up, something no firefighter can fail to slip up at.

They were in the truck, fastening the last of their buttons as well as putting on their helmets. As they drove as fast as they could down the street they were dispatched that a home was on fire and that not everyone had made it out yet. Sho gave out the orders, each of them taking heed. When they arrived to the house, they hopped out the truck where they immediately went to hook up the hose to the hydrant.

Sho and Jun went to the hysterical mom as she cried about her mother and son still being in there. Jun quickly went in, making sure he was both fast and cautious as he made his way up the stairs. The whole place was masked in a thick smoke causing Jun to try his best to not inhale too much.

He rounded the corner and kicked out the door where the teenage son laid unconscious. He picked him up bridal style, making sure he was well protected and ran out the house as fast as he could. “Where’s Sakurai-san?” Jun asked his fellow co-workers.

“He went in after you to find the grandma. You didn’t see him?”

Jun shook his head ‘no’ as he checked the boy’s breathing. “Tend to him, I’ll go get Sho.” Before they had a chance to answer, he was already running back into the home that seemed as if it wasn’t going to last long if they didn’t start taking it out with the hose. “Sho!” Jun yelled the best he could behind his gloved hand.

He ran past the kitchen which he figured was the source of the fire and went into the other rooms on the first floor. Had he not looked over for that one second, he would’ve missed the figure of Sho trapped by a support beam. “Sho!” Jun yelled.

“Get her!” Sho yelled to Jun, causing him to realize he wasn’t trapped; he was trying to keep it off the older woman. She too was unconscious and he feared the worst. “Hurry!” Sho yelled, causing Jun to jump slightly and grabbed underneath the woman’s arms to drag her out. Though it was difficult, Jun managed to lift her up.

“What about you?” Jun asked. The way things were, Sho couldn’t simply drop the beam without seriously injuring himself; and even if he did manage to do that safely, the house didn’t look like it would hold up for long.

“Don’t worry about me and just get her out!” His sempai yelled. Jun quickly made his way out the house, though it was a lot harder now that there were more exists blocked by flames. After narrowly missing the fire that was creeping its way towards him, Jun got out the house, where the older woman was passed off to the paramedics that had arrived.

“Still inside, but he can’t get out cause there’s a support beam he’s trying to keep up. If he let’s go he could get hurt,” Jun huffed. He soon started coughing heavily.

“You’ve been in there too long. We’ll take it from here.”

Jun wanted to be the one to get him out, but he couldn’t even speak. The paramedics came over to him and gave him an oxygen mask and some water. Jun sat on the stretcher, giving the muffled orders to start killing the fire. He sat anxiously until he caught the three men slowly making their way out the house. Sho looked like he was on the verge of unconsciousness and was coughing just as much, if not harder, than Jun was earlier. Quickly the paramedics went to him and checked him out.

“You’re taking him to the hospital?” Jun asked looking at Sho who was getting strapped into the stretcher.

“Yeah, he has some serious smoke inhalation and what so far seems to be a sprained ankle,” the men said, barely shooting him a glance.

“Let me come,” Jun said. Sho weakly waved his hand and pointed to the house; it was his way of telling him he was in charge. The doors to the ambulance closed in front of his face before driving off. Jun swallowed the lump in his throat before tending to the house.

It took close to three hours to fight the flames and sadly the home couldn’t be salvaged. When the flames were put out, Jun worked faster than usual to put the hose away and to make sure they found out the true source of the fire; he just wanted to make sure Sho was alright.

After taking a quick shower at the station, Jun got on his bike and rode to the hospital in full haste. It took him about 40 minutes to get there and stayed in the waiting room with Sho’s family. He was told that Sho was relatively fine; he just had a broken ankle. Jun let out a deep sigh and sat down. They had been waiting for another 30 minutes before they were told that they could go see him.

Sho was put on a respirator, but the nurses said it was just for that night, and had a cast on his foot. The older man was sleeping soundly which put all of them at ease. His family said a few words before Jun leaned forward and whispered in the man’s ear. He figured Sho could hear him; lord knows the many times he’s heard things while still asleep, and placed the man’s book on the nearby drawers.

“What did you say to him?” Sho’s brother asked. Jun simply ruffled his hair and rode his bike back home.

Three weeks later
Sho was walking around in crutches in the station, with Jun, as the others were off fulfilling a call. “When we’re injured, usually you tell us to stay home,” Jun smirked. Sho only shot him a quick glare before sitting next to him unceremoniously on the couch.

“I hate staying at home. My mom will try to baby me beyond belief and then try to send me into a guilt trip as to why I shouldn’t have taken such a job,” the older man pouted. Jun only laughed and motioned with his fingers for the man to rest his leg on his. Once Sho managed to do the difficult task, Jun pulled out his sharpie and wrote on his cast. The older firefighter laughed at the gesture, but didn’t complain.

It took an injury for him and Jun to get back to where they started six years ago. It took an injury for Sho to muster up the courage to tell Jun he loved him.

“Matsumoto-kun,” Sho said.

“Mm?” the man hummed as he wrote whatever his message was, Sho wouldn’t be able to see since he chose to write it underneath his feet.

“We used to be like this, right?”

“Me signing your broken ankle?” Jun smirked. Sho dug the toes of his right foot into the younger man’s side, tickling him. “Sorry!” Jun cried out while laughing.

“You know what I meant, me and you were quite close.”

“Mm, that was so long ago.”

“Why is that?” Sho pouted.

“You’re my elder. I was to take orders from you, not follow you around like a lost puppy,” Jun said. Sho looked at him and sat up the best he could, taking the man’s hand in his.

“Back there, in the hospital, you said you loved me cause you weren’t sure if I could hear you or not,” Sho said softly. Blush covered Jun’s cheeks. “I did hear you.” Sho’s thumb rubbed the back of the man’s knuckles soothingly.

“Your answer is?” Jun asked nervously. Sho smirked and scooted closer to kiss his lips. “I, uh, I don’t think I understand,” the man smirked. Laughing softly, they leaned in for another kiss. Jun kept teasing him until their kisses got more intense.

Gently Jun rearranged themselves so that Sho was lying down and his left leg was propped up on the back of the couch. “You do know this is very much against the rules, unsanitary, clichéd, and unsexy,” Sho said pointing at his leg at the end.

“Shut up and enjoy it,” Jun whispered above his lips. He moved down and kissed the small exposed patch of the man’s toned stomach. ‘Thank the heavens this man is a firefighter’ he thought. His hands fumbled around with the belt and zipper before slipping the right leg out of both the pants and boxers.

Sho’s body twitched a little bit in excitement as he watched Jun with half-lidded eyes. Soon enough lips were wrapped around his erection, causing him to grunt behind his hand. He continued moaning, hoping that no one was going to catch them. Never would he have guessed the man was so good with his tongue. “Ju-Jun…” Sho whimpered.

Jun pulled up from the older man and removed his pants and boxers as well. It was Sho’s turn to blush as his eyes marveled the younger man’s body. Tight and toned, just like Sho hoped it’d be. Jun got in between the man’s legs keeping their eye locked as he sucked on his own fingers, making sure they were wet enough. Sho relaxed himself and grunted when the first finger went in. It moved around a bit, before Jun added the second finger.

A third finger soon followed and Sho moaned Matsumoto’s name. “Please, do it now.”

Jun reached in his bag, which was resting on the floor nearby them, and pulled out his bottle of lotion. He squirted some on himself before positioning the head of his cock at Sho’s entrance. Slowly he pushed in, his eyes shifting up to the older man’s face and back down to what he was doing. He continued going in until he was a little more than halfway there. Jun pulled out, to the head, and thrust back in. This was repeated until Sho’s hips started meeting his thrusts.

Jun leaned forward and kissed Sho as he moved faster. A whimper came from Sho when he felt his prostate getting bumped a few times. “You feel so good,” the younger man moaned. Unable to do anything but moan, Sho nodded and arched his back in pleasure. Jun wrapped Sho’s right leg around his waist and positioned himself better on his knees to pick up the pace.

The room was filled with the rhythmic sounds of skin slapping and both men’s grunts and groans. “Jun, I’m coming,” Sho gasped as he tugged at his erection. The younger man pushed both his and Sho’s shirt up before replacing the man’s hand with his own. It didn’t take too long before Sho spilled in his stomach. Jun wiped the cum that smeared between his index finger and thumb on Sho’s hips as he thrust faster.

Unable to hold back his cries, Sho moaned aloud to each hard thrust Jun gave him. The hits only got harder and faster the closer Jun got to his orgasm. After three more pumps, the younger man pulled out and released on Sho’s already messy stomach. They were breathing heavily, neither moving, but simply looking into each other’s eyes.

Jun pulled out some tissues from his bag and delicately wiped the other man down. Sho smiled at how attentive the man was, something no one would’ve guessed by simply looking at him. After both men fixed themselves up, Jun helped Sho out the room and went to the front of the station. “We’re going home,” he said to the attendant behind the desk. He nodded and gave a small salute gesture to Sho who returned the move.

We’re going home?” Sho teased with a smirk as they got into a taxi.

“Yeah, mine. Since your mom has the keys to yours and will most likely catch us in awkward situations,” the younger firefighter smiled and rubbed the injured leg that was draped over his own.

Two months later
Sho was sitting in bed as Jun carefully cut the sides of the cast off Sho’s foot. They kept joking earlier about how pale and thin it might look, which both amused and scared the older man. When they heard the final snip, Jun delicately removed the cast and smiled.

“Pale,” he chuckled. Sho wriggled the toes before experimentally rotating the foot. “Pain free?”

“Mm,” Sho hummed and pulled Jun in for a quick kiss. “I can finally work now,” he smiled happily. His eyes drifted down to the cut cast and picked it up, turning it upside down to read the message Jun wrote:

Wouldn’t it be great if I wrote a serious message here?

He slowly looked up at Jun who was holding back a laugh before fleeing from Sho.

They didn’t make it so far seeming how Jun got tackled to the floor just outside the bedroom. They wrestled around for a bit as Sho tickled his boyfriend mercilessly. After a few minutes of this they laid in a heap, panting heavily. Jun rolled onto his side and pulled Sho in closer for a kiss. They slowly got up and went to the living room, where they relaxed, all tangled up together on the couch and watched some television.

Awww~~ Firefighters are really willing to give up their life to save other people.

The image of Sho "pole dancing" with money on his pants (I think it's for a calendar or something) keeps on popping up. :))
It must be hard doing it while there's a cast on his foot. fufufu.

Thank you for sharing~! *HUGS HUGS*

yeah, I could clearly imagined them as firemen, and Jun once played as a fireman in a drama too.
When I first saw the title I thought it was taken from a song by Sting, fields of gold, but it seems you meant gold here as fire?
just curious :)
cry1babycry1baby on June 12th, 2011 03:02 am (UTC)
Really? what drama was this?
LOL i did take it from the Sting song [i have been in love with that song since i was a kid], but i chose it cause it works with "gold" being the fire just like u thought ahaha
shojunnijishojunniji on June 12th, 2011 03:11 am (UTC)
it was a special drama, called "Propose", aired in June 2005.

I love that song a lot too, and have been thinking to write a fic based on that song, so when I saw yours I was so excited, haha...

Sakumoto love !!! And as firemen, sexy as hell, youy did in purpose, right ? XD

As in the real life, they are shy together but in their mind, it's another thing. ^.^

The way whose they confessed to each other, it was quite romantic. *.*

And as always with you, your love scene was perfect. *W.W*
